Spectator Information
The car park that is most likely to have spare places is the Main Car Park in Cross Street (can be accessed from Watergate Street immediately after Mere Motors if coming in from Shrewsbury or Whitchurch)
From the main car park walk along Watergate Street, past Mere Motors Petrol Station and cross road at pedestrian crossing. Access to Cremorne gardens is 5 metres past crossing and there is no charge for admittance.
Walk around tented village, buy something from the stalls or spectators charity tea tent and soak up the atmosphere.
Suggested Itinery for maximum pedestrian viewing:
When first wave is due to leave (10:30am) make your way along Mereside footpath to Spectator Point A.
Point A is opposite where competitors make their first swim turn, and later on those same competitors go past on their cycles.
As last wave (Wave 5 @ 10:50 am) make their swim turns, walk along Talbot Street (against race traffic) to Spectator Point B.
Point B is where competitors cycle out, then about an hour or so later return past to cycle in.
If you want to watch the runners then walk up Swan Hill past Spectator Point C to Spectator point D.
Point C is where competitors cycle off the road into Cremorne Gardens and into transition
Point D is where competitors run out of Cremorne Gardens, then later run back in. You can go into Cremorne Gardens at this point, but with the high barriers it is a temporary cul-de-sac.
At Point D, the competitors will run past you and up Sandy Hill, then 4 km later they will run past you again and away from you towards Coptiviney. 4km later they will run towards you and into Cremorne Gardens. To go to watch your favourite competitor(s) finish you have to walk back to Point C and in through the pedestrian access to the spectator area next to Transition.
Total walking distance on this route from Tented Village back to Tented Village is approx 1.95 km or 1.2 miles.
